The Albany, Deptford

Role: Creative Programmes Manager 2017-2020

As Creative Programmes Manager at the Albany, I worked with the creative team to programme, produce and manage the huge and diverse range of shows and events in the artistic programme, including theatre, circus, spoken word, music, interdisciplinary work and shows for children and families.

I was regularly involved in fundraising for specific projects, and to swell the baseline programming & commissioning budgets to allow us to consistently punch above our weight as an organisation, including significant successful grants from Arts Council England, Wellcome and Future Arts Centres.

I represented the Albany locally, nationally & internationally at events in Belgium, Italy, South Africa, South Korea and Japan, as well as across London and the UK.

I led on our artist development strands of work, including holding monthly artist surgeries and working closely with emerging artists to support their first projects, funding applications, etc

Most importantly, I regularly worked with local community groups and resident organisations to ensure our work was always in touch with the people living and working in our neighbourhoods of Deptford & Lewisham. Diverse, inclusive programming that truly reflects society, particularly in South East London, is a huge part of the Albany ethos.

The Albany programme spans three sites: the Albany, Deptford Lounge, a library and community space shared with a local school, and Canada Water Theatre, inside Canada Water Library.
