No Place Like Home:
A Festival of Work
About Migration

Role: Lead Producer/Programmer

“You have to understand, that no one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land”

— Warsan Shire

No Place Like Home was a short festival of work at the Albany in Deptford, offering a platform to artists telling stories of migration. The line-up included shows, talks, debates, dinners and workshops, including new work from Fancy Chance, Jasmin Rodgman and Salena Godden, ivo theatre and Matt Abbott. The season ran in partnership with the Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network, and together we offered free tickets, drop-in workshops, food and employment support for local refugees and asylum seekers.

By the end of 2017, 68.5 million individuals were forcibly displaced worldwide as a result of persecution, conflict, or generalised violence – including 25.4 million refugees. As boats continue to arrive on the shores of Europe, we shone a light on stories of migration from across the globe.
